Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007) was a spiritual teacher who advocated selfless service as a path to outer and inner peace. He also advocated the philosophy of self-transcendence, through which an individual can conquer his mind’s limitations by expanding one’s consciousness.

Moreover, Sri Chinmoy taught that human beings can reach greater spiritual heights through creative pursuits and athletic activities. He was a frequent participant in marathons organized by the Marathon Team.
