Inner Worlds, Outer Worlds (released in 2012) is a documentary made by Canadian filmmaker, musician, composer, and meditation teacher Daniel Schmidt, narrated by Patrick Sweeney.
The film could be described as the external reflection of his own adventures in meditation.
It was released for free online. A year later, Daniel Schmidt has received enough money in donations and hard copy sales to fund his next film, entitled “Samadhi.”
Inner Worlds, Outer Worlds has been narrated in English, French, Spanish, German and Hindi and there are subtitles for 17 languages. Inner Worlds, Outer Worlds was officially selected in 19 film festivals around the world and won the Award of Excellence at the Canada International Film Festival.
Inner Worlds, Outer Worlds – Part 1 – Akasha – Synopsis
It examines various aspects of life, the universe, spirituality and the natural and mysterious links between them. The film explains ancient and sacred teachings alongside modern scientific findings, drawing conclusions about certain aspects of the universe and the vibratory field.
This documentary is made out of 4 parts: Part 1 is “Akasha”, Part 2 is “The Spiral”, Part 3 is “The Serpent and the Lotus” and Part 4 is “Beyond Thinking”.
In the first part of the film, Daniel Schmidt explores the vibratory field that connects all things. This field is known under various names, such as Akasha, the unmanifested, the “nothing” or emptiness which fills the vacuum of space.
As Einstein realized, empty space is not really empty. Saints, sages, and yogis who have looked within themselves have also realized that within the emptiness is unfathomable power, a web of information or energy which connects all things.
This matrix or web has been called the Logos, the Higgs Field, the Primordial OM and a thousand other names throughout history.
In part one of Inner Worlds, we explore the one vibratory source that extends through all things, through the science of cymatics, the concept of the Logos, and the Vedic concept of Nada Brahma (the universe is sound or vibration). Once we realize that there is one vibratory source that is the root of all scientific and spiritual investigation, how can we say “my religion”, “my God” or “my discovery”.
Akasha (or Akash is the Sanskrit word meaning “aether” in both its elemental and metaphysical senses. In Sanskrit, every word contains its own respective form. The sound created when pronouncing the word ‘Akasha’ is expansive, it can evoke a feeling of liberation and freedom, where the boundaries that separate inner space from the outer dissolve.
This sound is the primordial, omnipresent ‘blueprint’ of all existence. Just as the colorless sap of a plant contains the form of the entire tree, the sound of Akasha is the transcendental, eternal source of all energy, holding in its eternal stillness, the infinite possibilities of life. In Ayurveda Space is the container of all physical structures where life resides.
Akasha embraces the co-existence of opposites within the void. This can be understood as the void being the field from which everything manifests and into which all eventually dissolves. Akasha has no beginning and no end; it is directionless and yet is the source of all directions. Akasha gives life to and nourishes the other elements.
In Hinduism, Akasha means the basis and essence of all things in the material world; the first material element created from the astral world, (Akasha (Ether), Earth, Water, Fire, Air) in sequence). It is one of the Panchamahabhuta, or “five elements”; its main characteristic is Shabda (sound). In Sanskrit, the word means “space”, the very first element in creation.
In Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati, and many other Indian languages, the meaning of Akasha has been accepted as the sky. The Vaibhashika, an early school of Buddhist philosophy, hold Akasha’s existence to be real.
Another subject in this part is Cymatic, which is the study of visible sound co-vibration, a subset of modal phenomena. Typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid. Different patterns emerge in the excitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency.
