Agya chakra is the center of clarity and wisdom. This chakra lies between the eyebrows and on the forehead and is also called ajna chakra, brow chakra or third eye.
Third-eye chakra is the 6th primary chakra or energy point in the body, according to Hindu tradition. Ajna chakra is symbolized by a violet lotus with two petals.
The energy of this chakra supports us to experience clear thoughts, as well as gifts of spiritual contemplation and self-reflection. It forms the boundary between the Divine and human consciousness.
Moreover, the energy from this chakra allows us to cut through illusion and to access deeper truths – to see beyond the words and beyond the mind.
On the physical level: it coordinates the activity of the hypophysis (pituitary gland) and of the cerebellum. The hypophysis has a vital role in the sense that, together with the hypothalamus, it establishes the command system of the rest of the endocrine glands.
The seed syllable is „Om” or „Aum” and is believed to be the supreme sound of the Universe. Om is believed to be the basic sound of the world, containing all the other sounds. Bija mantras are one syllable seed sounds, that when recited out loud they activate the healing energy of the chakras in order to purify and balance the mind and body.
„He who meditates successfully on this center destroys the karma of all past lives, and becomes a liberated soul. Intuitional knowledge is obtained through ajna chakra, the seat of primordial power and soul. It is here that yogis consciously put their prana at the time of death. All yogis, especially jnanis, concentrate on this center and OM.” – Swami Vishnu
When your 6th chakra is open:
When this chakra is fully activated, both hemispheres of the brain function simultaneously. The right hemisphere’s creativity and synthetic thinking are integrated and balanced with left hemisphere’s logical and analytical thinking.
Moreover, a healthy brow chakra tends to encourage balance in the lower chakras. For this reason, many yogis suggest that it is best to begin your chakra work with your third eye chakra. Once this chakra is balanced and free of blockages, it helps to counteract many negative effects that occur in your other chakras.
