Hiranya Garbhaaya Dhimahee
Thanno Brahma Prachodayath.”

Brahma Gayatri mantra translation:

”Om, Let me meditate on The God who is the soul of Vedas,
Oh God, who holds the entire world within you, give me higher intellect,
And let the Lord Brahma illuminate my mind and my understanding.”

Description:

Lord Brahma is the God of Creation and He is attributed to the creation of the entire universe and the life forms within it. He is the first member of the Hindu Trimurti, Lord Vishnu (the Preserver) being the 2nd and Lord Shiva, the 3rd.

The four Vedas are said to have sprung from Lord Brahma’s heads. In the Life of Ganga (goddess of the Ganges River), Brahma advised Bhagirathi to ask the help of Lord Shiva (The Auspicious One) in containing the power of Ganga.

Although Lord Brahma, the Creator, is one of the trinity, His importance has dwindled since ancient Vedic times and He has nothing like the following of the other two.

It is said that Lord Shiva admonished Lord Brahma for his “unholy” behavior towards Shatarupa and chopped off his 5th head as punishment. He had given into the desires of the flesh and abandoned the work of the soul and for this Lord Shiva’s curse was that individuals should not worship Lord Brahma.

According to another ancient legend, in order to create the world and the human race, He made a goddess out of himself, one-half woman and the other half man. He called the woman Gayatri, but the goddess also became known by many other names such as ”Saraswati.”

As soon as He created Saraswati, He became overpowered by Her ethereal beauty. But the goddess did not want to be associated with carnal desires, so She changed Her forms to escape from Lord Brahma’s sexual overtures. Finally, unable to control Her anger, Saraswati cursed Lord Brahma that He would not be worshiped by any individual on Earth.
